Wike is blackmailing the Judiciary – Rivers APC

Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Gover­nor Nyesom Wike of black­mailing the judiciary.

On Tuesday, the gover­nor, through his media aide, Opunabo Inko-Tariah de­scribed judgement of the Rivers State Election Tri­bunals in Abuja, which an­nulled his election and those of some state lawmakers, and that of the Supreme Court af­firming relocation of the tri­bunal as ‘judicial terrorism’ against him.

Reacting, the state All Progressives Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chris Finebone al­leged that Wike is plotting a blackmail in a bid to gain favourable rulings from the Court of Appeal.

A statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday by Finebone said:

Wike’s decision to embark on his mission against the judges, is basically to soften up and ultimately blackmail emi­nent men and women of the bench, to give him a favour­able ruling when he appeals the judgment that nullified his election.
Therefore, the embattled governor has thrown all caution to the winds, by taking on the likes of Jus­tice Mohammed Ambrosa through direct comments by his media aides.
The APC is curious about the reasoning behind the fact that the same judicial system Wike is busy denigrating is the same system he hopes to approach for appeal.

In a related development, Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice (CJN), Mahmud Mohammed has cautioned politicians who lost cases at the election tribunals to refrain from disparaging the integrity and reputation of the juudiciary insisting that the fight against corruption is a collective responsibility especially amongst public officials, particularly the state governors, who are equally chief security officers of their respective states.
